Cozumel Beach Bar Loop: Best Beach Bars & Wild Side Stops

Rocky beach and turquoise Caribbean Sea along Cozumel's wild east side

The untamed beauty of Cozumel’s wild side – where the surf crashes, the breeze is salty, and the beach bar adventure begins.

Looking for a little adventure with a side of ocean breeze and a splash of margarita? Dory's Ultimate Beach Bar Loop is one of my favorite ways to spend a day in Cozumel, and Jefe' and I have made this loop more times than I can count.

No resorts. No power lines. No problem. The wild east side feels completely different from Cozumel's busier west coast, with crashing waves, rugged beaches, dramatic coastline, and miles of Caribbean views. We rarely rush this side of the island. Half the fun is stopping when something catches our eye, ordering a mojito or a few tacos, and staying a little longer than we planned.

Follow the coast to some of Cozumel's best beach bars, hidden gems, scenic stops, tacos, tequila, and plenty of places to kick off your flip-flops. My best advice? Don't over-plan it. Pick a few must-stop places, leave room to wander, and enjoy the ride.

Rasta’s – The Bob Marley Bar

Rasta's Beach Bar Cozumel wild side

Start your Beach Bar Loop journey at Rasta’s, where the Bob Marley tunes and reggae vibes set the tone for a fun and carefree experience. From here you will work your way through Cozumel's wild, untamed east side - where the beaches are pristine, the vibes are relaxed, and the drinks are always cold!

Enjoy drinks, good food, and reggae tunes while relaxing in hammocks or at beachside tables. Whether you're chilling with friends or making new ones, Rasta’s is the perfect spot to start or to end your adventure.

Pro Tip: Snap a photo by the murals or leave your own mark (like a t-shirt!).

Miami Bar (Mojito House or Liquor Box)

This cozy little beach bar is known by many names, but whatever you call it, it's a great stop on the loop. It offers an incredible view of the ocean and is home to some of the island's best mojitos.

Their signature drinks, like the Mojito and Papa's Secret, are made fresh to order with fresh fruit. Pair one with the fresh seafood, caught daily, and don't be surprised if you find yourself relaxing here far longer than planned, mesmerized by the waves crashing onto the shore.

📸 Perfect for: Sipping a Papa's Secret or mojito while lounging in a hammock with an unforgettable ocean view.

Blowholes (Where the Ocean Breathes)

One of Cozumel’s most magical natural spots! These volcanic rock formations shoot seawater high into the air with every crashing wave — nature’s own fountain show. You’ll hear them before you see them.

This stop is marked on our Beach Bar Loop map but it’s totally optional. Feel free to take a peek if you're cruising by, or build it into a longer wild-side adventure.

💙 Want to know where to park, what to watch for, and why this stop is one of Dory’s faves?

El Mirador

This rocky outcrop is one of Cozumel's most iconic viewpoints with crashing waves, salt-sprayed air, and a rugged natural arch carved by the sea. But just across the road, you'll find something even more flavorful.

A row of small market booths offers handmade souvenirs and gifts, but the real treasure is the tequila tasting stop tucked among the vendors.

You'll be warmly welcomed to sample a lineup of locally crafted tequilas from crisp blanco to smooth añejo and rich extra añejo. One of our top three favorite tequilas on the entire island comes from this very stop. They also offer delicious flavored tequilas, including coconut, coffee, almond, and more.

💙 Dory’s Treasure Tip:

Don't miss the extra añejo. It's their smoothest pour and delicious for sipping. And if you've never tried flavored tequilas, you're in for a treat! They offer some fantastic options, including coconut, coffee, almond, and more. My personal favorite is the coconut tequila. It's smooth, lightly sweet, and tastes like a sip of the Caribbean. If you find one you love, they'll wrap your bottle so it's ready for the trip home.

Chen Río

Crocodile across the road from Chen Río beach in Cozumel

This beloved wild-side beach makes for a quick scenic stop or a longer, relaxing stay if you've got time. Chen Río is one of the few east coast beaches where you can comfortably get in the water. Casual restaurants, small souvenir stands, and a few little shops nearby make it a great mid-route refresh.

But the real surprise? There's often a crocodile sunning itself just across the road on the north (inland) side of the beach! Keep your eyes peeled and you'll likely spot a small crowd checking him out. He's a local icon.

🍤 Looking for a relaxing lunch stop?

Grab a table at Restaurante Chen Río for fresh seafood, an ice-cold drink, and a breezy beach view just steps from the sand. It's the perfect place to slow down, recharge, and soak in Cozumel's beautiful wild side.
💡 This stop is marked on the Beach Bar Loop map but feel free to skip or stop depending on your vibe. If you're doing a custom loop, Chen Río makes a perfect splash-and-snack break.

Coconuts - Ocean Views

Next, take a short drive down the coast to Coconuts, perched at Cozumel's highest point with breathtaking views of the ocean and coastline. This spot is all about the views, great music, and the relaxed jungle vibe.

The bar has a relaxed atmosphere, and the staff are friendly and welcoming. Whether you're under a thatched roof on a rainy day or lounging in a hammock overlooking the sea, Coconuts offers one of the best hangouts on the island.

📸 Pro Tip: Don't forget your camera. These views are Instagram-worthy and worth the climb!

Mezcalito's - Margaritas & Hammocks

As you continue south along the loop, you'll arrive at Mezcalito's Beach Bar, one of the oldest and most beloved stops on the island. Known for its delicious margaritas, shrimp tacos, and beach hammocks, Mezcalito's delivers the classic Cozumel beach bar experience.

It's a relaxed, no-frills spot where you can unwind with a cold drink while soaking in the beautiful Caribbean views.

Grab a hammock, settle into a table, or pull up a seat at the bar. The bartenders are known for mixing fantastic drinks and are always happy to recommend a favorite.

Don't leave hungry! Mezcalito's also serves tasty beach-bar favorites, including fresh ceviche, fish tacos, and shrimp tacos.

📸 Perfect for: Kicking back in a hammock with a margarita while enjoying one of Cozumel's most laid-back beach bars.

Señor Iguanas - The Grand Finale

Just beside Mezcalito's, you'll find Señor Iguanas, the final stop on our Beach Bar Loop. With cold cocktails, fresh seafood, and gorgeous Caribbean views, it's an easy place to settle in and enjoy the last stop of your wild-side adventure.

Jefe' and I have stopped here many times, and my favorites are the margaritas, cheladas, and ceviche. Don't miss the mixto ceviche or fish tacos either. Both are delicious!

Perfect for: Cold drinks, fresh seafood, and a fabulous ocean view with plenty of sea breeze.

💡 Dory's Tip: Stop by on a Sunday afternoon. There's often live music, making it an especially fun way to wrap up your Beach Bar Loop.
