- Swimsuits (2–3) — having an extra means you don’t have to put on a wet one.
- Lightweight, breathable clothing and easy cover-ups for hot, humid days.

- Light sweater or wrap — optional, but handy for air-conditioned restaurants, travel days, or an unexpectedly breezy evening.

Pack plenty of reef-safe sunscreen, especially when traveling with kids. Sunscreen can be more expensive on the island, and you'll go through it quickly on beach, boat, and pool days.
Toiletries & Health
- Bug repellent for evenings and more tropical or wooded areas.
- Hand sanitizer for travel days, excursions, and quick stops around the island.
- Prescription medications and personal care essentials — bring enough for your entire trip, especially if you prefer a specific brand that may be harder to find locally.
- Travel pill organizer if you like keeping medications and supplements sorted while traveling.
- Extra hair ties and conditioner for beach, pool, and dive days.

Snorkeling & Diving
Cozumel is one of my favorite places to get in the water, whether you’re snorkeling from shore or heading out for a day of diving.
- Certification information — divers should have their certification card or digital certification details accessible.
- A well-fitting mask — if there’s one piece of snorkel or dive gear worth bringing from home, a mask you already know fits comfortably is high on my list.
- Fins, snorkel, and dive booties if you prefer using your own gear.
- Your personal dive gear — bring your BCD, regulator, computer, or other equipment if you prefer diving with your own setup. Otherwise, quality rental gear is available through local dive operators.
- Dry bag or waterproof pouch for keeping valuables protected on boats and around the water.
- Underwater camera or GoPro if you want to bring home more than memories from the reef.

If you’re staying in a vacation rental, you don’t need to pack your whole kitchen—but a few familiar favorites can make settling in easier.
- Bring favorite snacks, seasonings, or specialty items you know you’ll want and may not want to hunt for after you arrive.
- Shop locally for the basics. Chedraui and other Cozumel supermarkets carry groceries, beverages, toiletries, and everyday vacation essentials.
- Consider grocery delivery if you’d rather arrive to a stocked refrigerator and start your vacation right away.

Traveling with Kids
A few extras can make beach days, excursions, and downtime much easier when you're visiting Cozumel with kids.

- Strollers and car seats depend on your plans. Consider your children's ages and how you'll be getting around Cozumel before deciding what bulky gear is worth bringing.

What Not to Pack for Cozumel
Save the suitcase space! There are a few things you can usually leave at home when packing for Cozumel.
- Heavy beach towels — check what your hotel or vacation rental provides before packing your own.
- Too many dressy clothes or fancy shoes — Cozumel is wonderfully casual. Comfortable sandals and lightweight clothing will take you almost everywhere.
- Expensive jewelry and unnecessary valuables — if you don't need it for your trip, there's little reason to travel with it.
- Too many toiletries — everyday basics are readily available on the island, so focus on prescription medications and specific products or brands you don't want to be without.
- Your entire closet — lightweight pieces you can mix, match, and rewear are much more useful in Cozumel's tropical climate.
